Unable to Attend?SummaryLearn how you can improve your handling of attendance issues in your workplace. Peter will provide you some effective solutions to the most persistent and vexing problems of employee absenteeism and/or abuse of leave privileges. About the Speaker Peter Brown has been involved in all areas of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore's practice since 1989, representing cities, counties, special districts, and school and community college districts in litigation, administrative proceedings, negotiations and grievances. Peter has a unique talent in promptly developing an expertise in new employment related litigation, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Acts, and the various state and federal discrimination laws. Many of the firm's clients have come to rely on his advice in guiding them in these constantly changing areas of law. Peter has also distinguished himself as a sought-after speaker, author and trainer on topics that impact our firm's clients. He speaks at numerous conferences throughout the state of California and nationally on many different public sector labor and employment law topics. Peter is one of the most prolific and popular presenters in the firm's renowned training activities. His workshop subjects include employment discrimination, harassment, employment investigations, legal updates, reference checks, personnel files and public meeting law issues, performance evaluations, termination and discipline, at-will employment, and privacy in the workplace, as well as workshops focused on key employment legislative developments, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Care Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and retirement law. Although Peter spends much of his time out of the office in court, hearings, workshops and negotiations, he finds that the most enjoyable part of the practice of public sector labor and employment law is advising clients how to resolve day-to-day problems. "Helping people resolve a difficult problem is very gratifying. It is why I went to law school." Peter was chosen as a 2007 & 2008 Southern California Super Lawyer! Legal Expertise
